What’s regional trucking?

Regional trucking is a type of cargo transportation in the territory of one region, for example, neighboring states, usually within a 1,000-mile radius around the home town. The work schedule of such drivers is usually consistent because they regularly drive along the same route. And it is a great balance between traveling and home time.

Advantage of regional truck driver job

First of all, it is the schedule. You will spend something like 5-6 days on the road and then have home time. So you will be able to spend more time with family and friends. Plus, your schedule will be more predictable. You will be able to build more trusting relationships with your regular customers and use your working time more effectively. After all, you will know the route and its pitfalls perfectly, traffic patterns, hours of operation, etc. And another less obvious advantage is that you will always be close to home. This gives a feeling of calmness and the ability to return home at any time if something happens.

Regional trucking job opportunities

Before getting such a truck driving job, it is better to have not only a CDL class A, but one or two years of OTR experience. In this case, you will have more opportunities to find a great job. Be ready for a lot of loading and unloading, and to have to deal with quick turnarounds – deliver and unload one cargo, immediately pick up the next. You will have to spend many hours on the road, often without enough rest. But for a lot of truckers, the opportunity to spend time at home is worth it.

You will most likely be delivering various commercial products to factories or manufacturing units or hauling goods to warehouses and retail outlets.

What is the highest paid regional job?

Of course owner-operator trucking job. As an independent contractor, you will be able to choose the best cargos and will have the freedom of running. Regional owner operator truck drivers may earn the same money as OTR owner-operators but with home weekends.

BTW if you are interested in a job for owner-operators, Owner Operator Land is here to help you. We cooperate with stable logistics companies that can provide you with great benefits and high pay. Don’t waste your time, apply here.

As the truck driver recruiting agency's CEO, I deeply understand the unique challenges and demands truck drivers face.

Drawing from my extensive work experience, I bring knowledge in truck driver recruitment, logistics, and transportation management. I possess a comprehensive understanding of industry regulations, safety standards, and best practices, ensuring that the agency adheres to the highest standards of professionalism and compliance.

Now, looking back and remembering my path from the very beginning, it seems to me that this story is a lifetime. During all these years of development and growth of our agency, I took part in no less interesting projects in which my experience, knowledge and vision were needed. And I was also able to gain new skills, contacts and experience by participating in the development of these projects from various fields, such as cargo transportation, trucking companies, e-commerce, parcel delivery and much more! But the best is yet to come!
