When you think of American trucking icons, one name roars to the top—Mack Trucks. With over a century of experience on the road, Mack has built a reputation for toughness, durability, and no-nonsense performance. From early haulers built in the age of steamships to today’s cutting-edge smart trucks, Mack has always been a brand that drivers respect.
Let’s take a ride through the decades and highlight some of the most legendary Mack truck models ever built. And by the end, tell us, which one’s your favorite?
The Mack story began in 1900 when the Mack brothers launched their truck company in Brooklyn, New York. By 1916, the Mack AC model was born—and quickly earned a reputation on the front lines of World War I for its rugged reliability.
Nicknamed the “Bulldog” by British soldiers, this is where the legend began. With its distinctive blunt-nose design, chain drive, and massive presence, the AC became the first truck truly worthy of the bulldog mascot.
Post-war America was booming, and so was the trucking industry. Mack introduced models that became the backbone of freight transport.
Ask any old-school driver, and they’ll likely get nostalgic about the Mack B61. With its rounded cab and powerful inline-six diesel, it was one of the most iconic trucks of its time. These rigs were known for their simplicity, durability, and unmistakable style.
This was the golden age of long hauls, CB radios, and chrome stacks—and Mack was right there in the thick of it.
If there’s one truck that defines Mack for most people, it’s the R Model. From dump trucks to long-haul tractors, the R was everywhere. It was customizable, easy to repair, and tough as nails—still in use today in many fleets.
With its square nose and premium look, the Super-Liner was designed for serious hauling with serious style. Built for long-distance drivers who wanted both power and presence.
As the industry evolved, so did the trucks. Mack introduced sleeker, more aerodynamic designs without sacrificing that classic rugged DNA.
A staple of regional and long-haul fleets in the ’90s, the CH brought more comfort to the cab while maintaining reliability. It was also one of the first Macks with advanced aerodynamics.
With a curvier cab and improved driver visibility, the Vision series aimed at improving fuel efficiency while keeping the Mack performance edge.
Mack continues to evolve with cutting-edge technology, fuel efficiency, and even electric trucks—all while staying true to their heavy-duty roots.
The Anthem redefined what a modern Mack could be. With bold styling, a high-efficiency MP engine, and advanced driver-assist tech, it’s built for today’s professional trucker.
From the no-frills AC of the 1910s to the high-tech Anthem of today, Mack Trucks has a model for every kind of driver. Whether you admire the classic lines of the B61, the unstoppable power of the R Model, or the sleek efficiency of the Anthem, there’s no wrong answer.
