When you consider becoming a part of the trucking industry, passing truck driving school is an essential thing to do. If you want to become a professional trucker, your attitude to truck driving school must be serious.

Trucking is a serious profession, and it requires a lot of responsibility from the driver. Laziness and negligence are not appreciated here, and you’ll lose your chance for a job from the beginning. What should you do to be successful? Take your training seriously.

Preparations Before Joining the Trucking School

Before going to the trucking school, you must do a short list of thing to not get kicked out.

  1. D.O.T Medical exam. You can get kicked out of the CDL school for not having a medical card with a physical exam.
  2. Sleep apnea. If you have one, you’ll be eliminated from the program. It is better to see your doctor first, so you know you don’t have sleep apnea.
  3. Drug testing. Go to the laboratory and do your tests. You’ll need to do it sooner or later. Many companies have their own drug check. If you’re a drug user, don’t bother to apply for the truck driving training program because you don’t belong in the trucking industry.
  4. Money. Even if you’re not considering to be an owner operator, you’ll need to buy some supplies that your CDL school won’t provide for you.

Don’t Ever Lie to Your School

Being dishonest in your application has no valid point. Don’t think that CDL school won’t check your background, they will. If you hide anything like work history, medical issues, D.U.I’ls, or criminal charges, you can lose your chance to become a trucker.

Practicing and Studying

Trucking school is still a school, and you’ll need to learn a lot of new information. If you have spare time, use it to lock down what you learned at school. Listen to your instructor, ask questions to clarify the information.

Instructors are getting paid for training you, so if you have any trouble with driving ask them questions or some tips. Asking questions doesn’t make you look stupid, you are learning.

Get Used to the Program

You’ll need to process a ton of information and knowledge in a short period of time. It is hard, and you must overcome it. Get enough rest to have the strength and work hard. You’ll achieve your goal without any doubt.

Be Polite and Co-Operative

Bad attitude won’t lead you to your goal. Being polite to your instructor can give you extra effort from them. Acting like a know-it-all about trucking is the wrong choice.

The instructor is here to not be your new bff. Their responsibility to teach you. Just be polite and respectful, and your learning will go much easier.

Always remember why are you here. Be curious, work hard, and show respect to other people. The trucking industry is a big family, and we should treat each other as we want to be treated.
